Weighing in Motion Systems consist of - Weight sensors - the hardware that weighs the vehicle. The type of sensor depends on your system requirements (portable / permanent installations)
- Computer Interface - data acquisition electronics that convert the scale readings to real weight and sends the information to the computer. Our LCIB interface is used in both portable and permanent weighing in motion applications.
- PC Software - does calculations on the weighing readings and stores the data. Same software for permanent and portable systems.
Weigh in motion scales are excellent for high traffic locations where vehicle speed is reduced to under 20km/h and accurate weighing needs to be done quickly, such as toll booths, border crossings, or shipping gates. You can depend on Massload weigh in motion axles pads to deliver highly accurate resules and have a long life-span due to their rugged design. Permanent in-motion weighing systems require a pit to be poured to mount the weigh bridges into. The advantage to these pads is that the vehicle driver cannot 'miss' the pads. They are forced to drive over the scale when it is installed into a driving lane. This system uses a total of 4 rigid mount, heavy duty loadcells, and has been proven to have very high accuracy, even with very low weights. Capacities range from 12,000 lbs. to up to 25,000 lbs per pad. Please note: Split pad systems are also available for applications where vehicle width requires a wider weighing area. Installation of Massload's permanent weighpads is simple. If it is an existing roadway that the scale will be installed in, an approximate hole must be cut through the surface. The scale frames are first bolted together then suspended in the cutout. The first of 2 pours is to create the bottom of the pit. When this has cured, the second pour fills the outer portion of the cutout. The loadcells are then installed and wires run. The weigh bridges are bolted onto the loadcells. The computer is then setup. That's it!
